WHICHFORD POTTERY - Whichford, Warwickshire

The Heritage: Established in 1976 by Jim and Dominique Keeling, Whichford Pottery operates out of Warwickshire with a dedicated team of highly skilled throwers. Rather than importing mass-produced ceramics or using industrial slip-casting, Whichford actively maintain the historic craft of hand-throwing. They refine their own clay on-site, blending specific British clays from Blockley and Ironbridge to achieve the ideal balance of elasticity for forming and porosity for plants. The pots are then formed on the wheel using a traditional 'three-pull' technique passed down through generations of English potters.

The Verdict: Whichford represents the definitive standard in horticultural ceramics, completely outclassing those fragile, imported terracotta products that inevitably shatters during a hard UK winter. As they formulate their own bespoke clay, and fire it to 1060 degrees celsius, they offer an uncompromising 10-year frostproof guarantee against lamination. Each pot is permanently stamped with its Whichford maker's mark and the exact year of its creation (thus removing the need to keep a paper receipt if a structural fault ever occurs!). These are heavy, architectural-grade planters engineered for extreme longevity, designed to weather naturally and to last for generations.

Core Products: Hand-thrown, frostproof terracotta flowerpots, large statement planters, and intricately decorated, hand-pressed garden urns.
